Special Seawater Condition Sponge Cleaning Balls (S220 / L220 Series)

Description

S220, L220 Sponge cleaning balls designed for cleaning copper and brass tubes used in seawater cooling systems.

Applications

Suitable for copper alloy tubes (copper and brass) in seawater environments, especially when used in combination with a controlled dosage of ferrous sulfate (FeSO₄).
Also widely used in evaporators of multi-stage flash (MSF) seawater desalination plants.

Cleaning Frequency

In Power Plants

• Without FeSO₄ coating:
  6–12 balls per tube per day
• With FeSO₄ coating:
  6–12 balls per tube per day, plus 6–12 balls per tube per week (depending on operating conditions)

In MSF Seawater Desalination Plants

• 2 balls per tube per hour
• Total ball injection quantity: approximately 30% of the first-stage evaporator tube count

Product Characteristics

Due to the relatively rough surface condition of copper alloy tubes, S220 cleaning balls can also be used as extended-life cleaning balls (L220 grade).

• Maximum operating temperature: 140°C
• Suitable for seawater and mildly corrosive environments
• Swelling rate: ≤ 2.5%
• Wet density: 04 – 1.08 g/cm³
