Heavy Duty Abrasive Cleaning Balls for Hard Scale and Severe Fouling

Heavy duty abrasive cleaning balls are designed for the most demanding tube cleaning situations, where hard calcium carbonate, sulfate scale, or compacted deposits have built up to a level that standard rubber or sponge balls cannot remove. The outer surface is coated with bonded corundum (aluminium oxide) or silicon carbide grit, providing the mechanical cutting force needed to break down and dislodge hard scale in a single cleaning campaign.

They are used for recovery cleaning after a maintenance gap, system commissioning, and scheduled deep-clean passes in high-fouling industrial environments. For ongoing maintenance after the recovery pass, systems typically transition to rubber cleaning balls or wear-resistant cleaning balls.

Heavy Duty vs. Standard Abrasive Cleaning Balls

Standard abrasive cleaning balls are suited for moderate scale and periodic maintenance passes. Heavy duty abrasive balls use a coarser, more densely bonded grit layer and a firmer core construction, delivering significantly higher abrasive force for severe fouling situations. The tradeoff is shorter service life and higher risk of surface damage on soft tube materials, they are not suitable for copper or thin-wall titanium tubes.
