Description
The R160 Abrasive Ring Cleaning Ball is specially designed for stainless steel and titanium condenser tubes operating with all types of cooling water.

It features a localized silicon carbide abrasive ring bonded to a resilient sponge body. This structure concentrates cleaning force at specific contact points, providing effective removal of hard deposits while maintaining excellent protection for tube surfaces.

For copper alloy tubes, the R160 should only be used in accordance with our technical recommendations.
Applications

Stainless steel and titanium heat exchanger tubes

Calcium carbonate (calcite)
Mineral scale

Recommended Cleaning Frequency
The cleaning frequency and the number of circulating cleaning balls should be determined according to operating conditions and verified through laboratory testing or field evaluation.

Working Principle
The R160 is designed as an intensive descaling cleaning ball and should not be used as a regular operating ball.

The localized abrasive ring generates two-point contact pressure inside the tube, enabling effective removal of localized hard deposits and oxide layers. Once the abrasive ring has worn off on most circulating balls, they should be replaced to maintain optimal cleaning performance.
Technical Notes

Under microscopic observation, the abrasion marks produced by the R160 are finer than those generated during the manufacturing process of stainless steel and titanium tubes.
Because the abrasive ring provides only two-point contact, cleaning is localized. For uniform full-surface cleaning, fully coated abrasive balls (such as T-series products) are generally preferred.
Excessive or improper use may accelerate wear of heat exchanger tubes or system components. The R160 should be used strictly according to recommended operating procedures.
